Daily feeding by life stage (full diet)
| Life stage | MER factor | kcal / day | g / day | g / meal (2×) | cups / day (wet) | cups / day (dry) |
|---|
Note: Calculations use RER = 70 × (ideal body weight in kg)0.75, multiplied by established feline MER factors sourced from the Pet Nutrition Alliance and NRC. Ideal body weight is estimated from BCS using the standard 10%-per-point adjustment from 5/9. Where life stage factors are expressed as a range, both ends are shown. Cup volumes used: wet/canned = 230 g/cup · dry kibble = 110 g/cup. These figures are starting points only — individual cats can vary by up to 50% from predicted values. Adjust intake based on body condition score over 2–4 weeks and always consult your veterinarian or a certified companion animal nutritionist, particularly for kittens, pregnant or lactating queens, or cats with health conditions.

The calculators above are a solid starting point, but every animal is different. If your dog or cat has a health condition, a tricky history, or you are building a home-prepared diet from scratch, a one-on-one consultation gives you a plan built their needs.
